About Us

Eucalyptus Stoneware was founded in 1974 by California artisan, John Laver. The pottery is located in scenic Del Mar, just across from the Del Mar racetrack and fairgrounds. Del Mar is just a short drive north from San Diego, home of the world famous San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld. Other attractions in San Diego include the Hotel Del Coronado, Balboa Park, Gaslamp District and Little Italy, as well as the Petco ballpark.

It is hard to believe that a small pottery can still exist in the busy climate of Southern California, but here we are, with a location fronting the San Dieguito River, a short walk to the beach. Our baskets are 100% American handmade, produced right here in Del Mar. We have been selling to Williams Sonoma, Longaberger, Villeroy & Boch, and other great companies for many years, but we like to maintain our "small town" image, priding ourselves in personal customer service. We sell to gourmet and gift shops throughout the United States and have received the Cooking Pleasures "seal of approval". Our baskets have been made famous in popular Hollywood movies, such as "American Beauty" and "Julie and Julia", as well as many television commercials
