Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I use my basket?  Heat the basket at the same time you are warming or baking breads.
Put the empty basket in the cold oven and then turn the oven to 350 to 375 degrees (Your breads can be baked or heated up at the same time in a separate pan). The basket will be fully heated in about 15 minutes, but can remain in the oven until your bread is ready. Then, you can wrap your hot rolls in a cloth napkin and serve right to the table.  Do not heat the napkin in the oven.
2. Do I have to put the basket in a COLD oven? Yes, the basket needs to heat up slowly to avoid damage. Never place the basket in a hot oven as this may cause the basket to crack.
3. Is my basket dishwasher safe? Yes, the basket can go in the dishwasher. Make sure that there is ample room around the basket so that other items do not bump against it.
4. Can my basket be warmed in the microwave? No, the basket will not heat properly in the microwave, and prolonged use in the microwave will cause the basket to crack or break.
5. How does my basket work as a fruit bowl? The open weave helps air circulate around the fruit so that it can remain fresh. This also makes an attractive centerpiece.
6. Is my basket lead free? Yes, all of our products at Eucalyptus Stoneware are completely lead free.
7. How is my basket considered a “Bread Warmer”? The basket does not actually heat the bread, you have to put it in the oven first. Your basket retains heat and will help keep your bread warm longer.
8. Why Eucalyptus? Eucalyptus Stoneware is just the name of the business, our products have nothing to do with eucalyptus trees.
9. Do I need to use a hot pad when removing the basket from the oven? Yes, the basket will be hot to the touch. Be sure and protect your table as well.
10. I want to send my basket as a gift, how do I pack it? Use a sturdy cardboard box with at least 2" extra in all dimensions.  Fill the bottom 2" of the box with foam packing peanuts, and place the unwrapped   basket in the box. Continue to fill the box with the peanuts so that it is suspended at least 2" away from the sides of the box.  Overfill the box slightly so that when you close it, the peanuts will be slightly compressed.   You should be able to shake the box and not hear any movement inside of it.  For best reults, do not use bubblewrap or gift wrap the basket.
11. I received a basket as a gift and it arrived broken, or I would like to exchange it, what should I do? Please contact the original shipper if it arrived broken.  We are only responsible for shipments that originate from our pottery shop.   We only exchange products if you have a receipt that shows that it was purchased directly from our shop, not from one of our retailers.
